Panzer schools like Paderborn and Bergen had long been producing exceptional replacement tank crews for the Wehrmacht. In the final days, despite dwindling resources, these schools organized their assets into Panzer Ausbildungs Verbände (Replacement Tank Forces).

Forced to fight with old equipment, these units fought valiantly in the last battles, not giving up until they had fired their last bullet or lost their last tank in defense of the Reich.
