Bolt Action | German Gebirgsjager | 28mm Metal Unit
-
Specialist training bred hardened fighters, and the Gebirgsjäger (mountain infantry) were regarded as elite troops, standing alongside the Fallschirmjäger. Originating from the Alpenkorps of WWI, they were used to defend mountain passes from their Italian counterparts, the Alpini. Known for their distinct Edelweiss emblem, these troops were deployed in challenging terrains across multiple theaters of war, including Poland, Norway, Africa, Crete, and Soviet Russia.
In the final months of the war, Gebirgsjäger often fought alongside regular infantry, defending strategically critical areas as Allied forces advanced toward Germany. Their specialized skills made them a formidable force in winter and mountain warfare.
