Mussolini famously boasted that the Italian army had eight million bayonets ready for action. In reality, the standing Italian army was far smaller, with many troops conscripted into a war they neither believed in nor understood. Despite this, there were several key battles in North Africa and the Eastern Front where they performed admirably.

This box set represents a wide range of Italian troops, including the standard Carcano Model 1891 rifle and its later variations, the 9mm Beretta M38 sub-machine gun, and the Breda Model 1930 light machine gun. The set also includes the MVSN or Camicie Nere (Blackshirts) Militia, a paramilitary organization that fielded assault legions alongside regular army divisions.
