Bolt Action | Italian Army Guastatori Destruction Group | 28mm Metal Unit

At the start of Italy’s war, the Italian Army lacked dedicated assault engineering units capable of taking on enemy fortifications. Inspired by the success of German pioneer units in the blitzkrieg, Italy formed the Guastatori del Genio in late 1940. By early 1941, these specialized assault engineers were actively fighting in North Africa, and by mid-1942, they were also on the Eastern Front. The Guastatori proved their mettle in various campaigns, including the Sicilian campaign, where they fought alongside the ‘Livorno’ Division.
