He had an unhealthy obsession with Judge Dredd, who represented the one thing the SJS could not process: an incorruptible Judge. Gerhart pursued a vendetta against Dredd for years, trying to uncover any transgression. His obsession ultimately cost him dearly when he saved Dredd's life by taking the impact of a missile, resulting in half of his body being replaced by cybernetic parts.
